Auckland’s in the middle of a massive tropical storm right now.

So of course my apartment building’s having roof repairs, the shrink wrap over the roof is coming apart, and my apartment’s on the top floor.
It’s 1:30am here and I’m currently moving buckets around while listening to the plastic flapping in the gale, and praying that the giant flag it’s become doesn’t pull some scaffolding off and start hammering the building with it. In between watching the rain radar and willing the heavy stuff to ease past us. So far, so good, the ceiling’s only dripping
Meantime, my wife is somehow sleeping through all this. I’m putting off waking her up till it’s time to start moving precious things to safety.
